Start low and slow: Smidge® is premium, pure and potent. Therefore, it’s critically important to start slowly, with a lower dosage than recommended. For example, a very small dose every other day, or even once a week, until you can determine how the supplement affects your body and what dosage feels right for you.

We partner with a small family company in Australia that has been living and breathing emu oil for decades. Our partners are at the forefront of emu oil research, working with the Australian government and a university. They’re also pioneers of sophisticated rendering plant design and hold meaningful leadership positions — such as the Emu Industry Federation of Australia.
Crafted according to nourishing tradition
To bring its precious oil to you, we maintain quality and control over the entire process — from rendering to crafting and bottling the oil in fresh, small batches.
- After harvesting, we promptly render the emu oil directly on the farm. Rendering is the process of melting the fat to become oil.
- We use a gentle, low temperature, so it’s fresh as can be, and retains all of its nutritional properties. (Other brands may remove the fat and freeze it for rendering at a later point.)
- Then, we filter the oil by simply warming it and removing the greaves via centrifuge.
- Importantly, we don’t use any chemicals, additives, or preservatives, nor is any part of the oil extracted.

The most bioavailable and absorbable form of vitamin K
Smidge® Australian Emu Oil provides the most bioavailable and absorbable form of vitamin K, which is vitamin K2 as MK-4 (the fat-soluble, converted form of vitamin K2 from animal fat (not plants)).
This is because your biochemistry must first convert all forms of vitamin K into vitamin K2 (MK-4) — to be absorbed and utilized in the body — including vitamin K1 and MK-7 (plant-based forms of vitamin K).
And the conversion rate in the body from the plant forms of vitamin K (K1 and K7) is low, and dependent on gut health. For instance, many people only absorb about 20% of vitamin K1. So, you’re likely only to get a small amount of vitamin K when you take it in the plant form, MK-7.
