What Is The Difference Between Collagen and Gelatin?

Very little! Think of it like apples vs apple sauce - same core ingredient, just a different preparation. Collagen is the protein found in bones and connective tissues. When you cook collagen, you end up with gelatin. When you make bone broth, you are cooking the bones, releasing the collagen and in effect making your own gelatin.

Suggested Use:

To start, mix 1 scoop (11g) in any cold liquid. This will bloom the gelatin. To make gelatin style desserts, add hot water and then chill per recipe instructions. Once scoop of Gelatin will gel approximately 16 ounces of liquid.

How To Use Perfect Bovine Gelatin

Perfect Bovine Gelatin can be used in any recipe that calls for gelatin or a gelling or thickening agent. Our gelatin works great in soups, fruit gelatin, gummy treats, custards, marshmallows, and more.

Takes about 20 minutes to prepare and then sets in the fridge for an hour or two. Easy!

Ingredients:
  • 2 C of your family’s favorite fruit juice* -OR- 1C juice + 1C heavy cream or coconut milk
  • 3 scoops of Perfect Grass-Fed Gelatin
  • 2-3 T honey / maple syrup or your favorite sweetener (optional)
Directions:
  1. Add the juice or juice/cream combo to a cold pot
  2. Sprinkle the gelatin over the liquid and let it bloom (slowly dissolve and absorb liquid) takes just a few minutes.
  3. Once it has bloomed, warm the mixture over medium heat, stirring until fully dissolved.
  4. Pour mixture into a container (I use an 8"X6" dish) or silicone candy molds
  5. Allow to set in the refridgerator for 1-2 hours
  6. Cut into cubes or fun shapes or pop out of the mold
  7. Store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks

* Citrus juices may cause problems with gelatin setting; instead try apple, grape, blueberry, mango, cherry, etc. (I have used small amounts of lemon juice without a problem).
