Description

Manuka was known by New Zealand Māori as being a plant with special healing properties. The leaves, gum and bark were all used. When honey bees were introduced to New Zealand in the 1830’s Manuka honey became another way that the healing properties of this native tree could be used. As we ship worldwide you don’t need to be in New Zealand to enjoy this golden honey with a rich floral taste.

Our Manuka honey is certified 100% organic genuine and totally traceable to our organic and isolated beehives on South Island New Zealand’s remote West Coast. All our organic Manuka honey is independently tested by an IANZ accredited laboratory, and certified organic by BioGro™.

MG stands for methylglyoxal, the naturally occurring compound that makes Manuka honey so special.

MG is formed in the honey from Manuka nectar. As the honey ripens, the MGO content can increase. This requires expert knowledge and careful storage, along with precise testing to ensure the potency, quality and purity of the honey.

Not all Manuka honey is created equal and MGO levels can vary greatly.  Every jar of our Manuka honey is tested and certified for natural MGO content. The MGO number tells you the level of MGO in your jar of Manuka honey, which is directly related to its potency – simple.
